Real Madrid have reportedly stepped up their interest in Dinamo Zagreb starlet Ante Coric as the threat of a FIFA investigation looms large.
According to AS, Los Blancos have already spoken to the 18-year-old’s agent Andy Bara and sent scouts to watch him, with a transfer ban still possible.
Coric has a contract with Dinamo until 2020 and is valued at €10m, but sources close to the player believe “his value may rise” as “all the big clubs want him”, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
The teenager is also quoted as saying, “my future? It’s over. I want to leave.”
Madrid have signed numerous hot prospects over the past year, including Martin Odegaard, Marco Asensio and Jesus Vallejo.
Coric, meanwhile, has drawn comparisons with Madrid midfielder Luka Modric thanks to his playmaking ability, although he can also play further forward.
Dinamo boss Zoran Mamic recently remarked of his potential: “He’s a treasure.
“He has more talent than Modric and [Mateo] Kovacic when they were his age. We’re impressed with him, although he showed promise when he was little.”
