Diego Godin was happy to see Atletico Madrid keep a clean sheet against Juventus and reflected on the Champions League group campaign.
Atleti topped Group A with the goalless draw in Turin and Godin looked back on the first round defeat to Olympiacos, explaining how much harder it made life for the team, but relishing the fact that Atletico haven’t conceded in Europe since.
“It’s cost us twice as much because of that defeat. We had to go and win away from home but to have not conceded was important,” he said, AS reports.
“[Andrea] Pirlo is a great player. He has a lot of the ball and could score from a free-kick but I think we defended well and we had a clear chance.
“We were tired in the last minutes after a demanding game, especially from the 70th minute. We weren’t going to take risks because we value the clean sheet.”
