Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe blew off some steam in Stockholm last week, traveling to Sweden with Bayer Leverkusen’s Nordi Mukiele, and enjoying the nightlife. After the event, pictures emerged, and local media mentioned his name as a suspect in a rape investigation that had been opened by Swedish police, in part taking place at the hotel he was staying at.

Mbappe’s lawyer Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard defended her client virulently, and said it was impossible for him to be involved, suggesting that he may have been setup. Meanwhile Mbappe had denied he was involved after a report from RMC Sport, saying it was ‘fake news’, and pointing out that in his view it was no coincidence the story emerged just before his court hearing with former club Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old is currently involved in a pay dispute with PSG, with the French giants owing him €55m. An unofficial club source also released a statement to L’Equipe earlier in the week in response to Mbappe’s words on Twitter/X. They called it a ‘disgrace’, and said that Mbappe blamed them for all of his woes.

Now Cadena SER report that Mbappe is convinced that PSG are behind the story, after his hints earlier in the week to that end. Mbappe completely stands behind Canu-Bernard’s theory that he was set up, and that there is an ongoing campaign to besmirch his image. The star forward has even assured Real Madrid that the story is PSG’s doing.

On Wednesday evening, it was reported by Le Parisien that Mbappe did have sexual relations with a womna at the hotel in question, but they were consensual. They were also unable to confirm whether the woman who submitted the rape complaint is the same that he had relations with.
