Oscar Mingueza has been one of the standout performers in the opening few weeks of the 2024-25 La Liga season. In five appearances, the 25-year-old defender has amassed two goals and three assists, which has him joint-third for most goal involvements across the entire league.
Understandably, Mingueza’s form has led to rumours on his future, and a possible return to Barcelona has been floated. Specifically, there has been several reports of the Catalans having a buy-back option, believed to be worth in the region of €9m.
However, Celta Vigo director of football Marco Garces strongly denied this during a press conference on Thursday, as per Diario AS.
“Barcelona have a right of first refusal and 50% of a subsequent sale. They do not have a right of re-purchase.”
Garces also spoke on Iago Aspas’ situation. The veteran attacker is out of contract at Celta at the end of the season, although he will be afforded the opportunity to sign a new deal – if that is his desire.
“He will play with us for as long as he wants. We made him an open invitation to start talks.”
