Atletico Madrid request loan of AC Milan midfielder as Sofyan Amrabat hopes fade

Atletico Madrid are still on the hunt for a central midfielder in the closing stages of the transfer market. On Tuesday, Diego Simeone said that he was hoping for one more player to come in, and despite Chairman Enrique Cerezo declaring that there would be no more business, Los Rojiblancos continue to move in the market.

Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat was the preference for Diego Simeone, but Fiorentina have rejected their loan offer for the Moroccan, as they have a loan with a mandatory buy clause agreed with Fenerbahce. It looks as if Getafe have rejected a loan offer for Luis Milla too.

As per Diario AS, Atletico are still trying to secure exits for left-back Javi Galan and Thomas Lemar, which could also give them more money to go after a midfielder too.

Manchester City’s Mathues Nunes is an option on loan, as is Paris Saint-Germain’s Danilo Pereira. However the one player Atletico have moved for is AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer, requesting a loan move from the Rossoneri.

Bennacer played 25 times for Milan last season, and still has three years left on his contract at San Siro. It seems Simeone is not happy with his options in the middle of the pitch, despite adding Conor Gallagher this summer, and the improvement of Pablo Barrios. Rodrigo de Paul and Koke Resurreccion will be feeling the pressure for their places.
