No more signings: Barcelona end their transfer business as financial woes prevent further additions

Barcelona have been desperately trying to sign at least one more player this week, given the serious lack of depth they have in central defence and central midfield after a number of injury blows. However, their well-documented financial woes are making it tough to add to Hansi Flick’s squad before the deadline on Friday.

As things stand, the only first team additions will be Pau Victor and Dani Olmo. The latter signed almost three weeks ago, but due to the club’s lack of departures, he could only be registered on Monday.

They will be the only players signed by Barcelona this summer, as both Marca and Relevo have reported that the Catalan club consider their transfer business to be done. This also means that it’s very likely that Eric Garcia – who had been strongly linked with a return to Girona – will be staying.

Barcelona may have had a very strong start to the campaign, winning their opening three La Liga matches, but it’s shaping up to be a very challenging season for Flick and his players. The serious lack of depth could cost them down the line, no doubt about it.
