€20m Barcelona offer deemed “insufficient” by Bayer Leverkusen

Barcelona have been hoping to sign one more player before the summer transfer window closes on Friday. They had put in offers for Jonathan Tah and Stefan Bajcetic, although there were unsuccessful in both.

Bajcetic’s signing on loan from Liverpool was ruled out for financial reasons, and Bayer Leverkusen have also rejected the offer for Tah – as confirmed by the 28-year-old defender’s agent. Barring a sudden turnaround, there will be no further offers submitted by the Catalan giants.

As per MD, Leverkusen considered Barcelona’s offer of €20m as “insufficient”. They wanted upwards of €30m, despite the fact that Tah is out of contract next summer. The reigning Bundesliga champions also believe the interest was not that serious, given the nature of the proposal submitted.

Barcelona won’t go back in for Tah – or anyone for that matter. It’s now expected that there will be no more business conducted before the transfer window slams shut on Friday night.
