Atletico Madrid will try to sign another midfielder before the summer transfer window closes on Friday. They’ve been linked with numerous players, and the most recent of those is something that they came close to signing in January.
Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Atleti have entered the race to sign Sofyan Amrabat. The Moroccan pivot is expected to leave Fiorentina in the coming days, and although Fenerbahce are favourites, Los Colchoneros are also on the hunt.
Atleti were also in for Amrabat during the winter transfer window earlier this year. On that occasion, they were not able to secure his signature and he subsequently ended up on loan at Manchester United.
Amrabat would certainly be an experienced addition for Atletico Madrid, and given that he is an aggressive player, he’d be ideal for Diego Simeone. It remains to be seen whether he ends up at the Metropolitano, although it would surely depend on that possible move to Fenerbahce breaking down.
