Barcelona youngster signs one-year contract extension ahead of loan move to Celtic

Barcelona continue to organise exits for those players not in the plans of head coach Alex Valle. The next player to be departing will be Alex Valle, who despite featuring throughout pre-season, has been behind Alejandro Balde and Gerard Martin in the pecking order at left-back during the opening two matches of the campaign.

As per MD, Valle is set to join Scottish champions Celtic on a season long-loan. They will pay his entire salary, which will be increased before the deal is completed – that’s because the youngster has signed a contract extension ahead of the move.

Not only will Valle’s wages increase, but also his release clause. At the start of August, it dropped to €3m when he wasn’t registered as a first team player – it’s not known what the new figure is, but it’s less than the €30m it once was.

This is an arrangement that suits all parties. Barcelona will hope that Valle returns to the club next summer as a better player, which will increase his chances of nailing a spot in the first team going forward.
