There are only a few more days remaining of the 2024 summer transfer window. In recent weeks, it has been a case of Barcelona auctioning off their players in an effort to free up the salary space required to register Dani Olmo, but now that this objective is achieved, it’s unlikely that any more significant sales will take place.

MD say that as of right now, it is economically unfeasible for Barcelona to sell players. This will continue to be the case until the club returns to the 1:1 rule, which it hopes to do so before Friday’s transfer deadline.
The report states that Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez, who have been linked with Girona and Al-Ittihad in recent weeks, are two of the players that will not be considered as sellable assets until the 1:1 return is secured. The pair are even more indispensable than before due to the current crisis in central defence – Martinez, Pau Cubarsi and Jules Kounde are the only senior options at the moment after Eric injured his foot earlier this week (he’ll be out for a few weeks at least).
Barcelona are actively looking to sign a new centre-back before Friday’s deadline, but regardless, Eric and Martinez are looking increasingly likely to stay until January at the very least.
