Atletico Madrid set out intentions for Manchester City star as Diego Simeone teases “one more arrival”

In the last two days, Atletico Madrid confirmed signings number five and six of this summer’s transfer window: Clement Lenglet and Juan Musso. The expectation has been that they will be the final two additions to Diego Simeone’s squad because of the limited salary space, but a surprise deal could be pulled off.

Simeone teased a possible seventh signing during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, ahead of Atleti’s clash against Espanyol.

In the last 24 hours, Atleti have been linked with Manchester City’s Matheus Nunes, who is out of favour in the eyes of Pep Guardiola. As per ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Los Colchoneros would be interested in a loan with an option to buy in the summer of 2025. Matteo Moretto also confirmed the club’s interest in the Portuguese midfielder, whose chances to sign would increase in the event of Thomas Lemar’s departure.

Nunes would be an excellent depth addition to Atletico Madrid’s midfield, of that there is no doubt. However, their chances of signing him appear to be slim for the moment.
