Report in Italy: Barcelona seal agreement with Juventus winger Federico Chiesa

Despite their issues registering players, Barcelona continue to be linked with a variety of players coming into the final stages of the transfer window. While asset sales and a new sponsorship deal might make further additions possible, it is not yet clear whether those will arrive in time. If they do, Juventus winger Federico Chiesa appears to be near the top of their wishlist.

The 26-year-old Italian winger is no longer part of Juventus’ plans, and is out of contract next summer, hence they are keen to bring in what money they can for Chiesa. Barcelona, who have been looking for a left-winger all summer, have him on their shortlist for this summer.

As per Tuttosport in Italy, Chiesa has already cleared out his locker at the training ground, after an agreement was reached with the Catalan side. They say that Barcelona will pay €12m for Chiesa, with the player earning €4m per season, with a further €2m available in bonuses. That would be a three-year contract with an option for a fourth, and his exit would allow Juventus to pursue Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho this week.

Previous reports state that Barcelona have not submitted a bid for Chiesa, but the player has let them know he would be keen to make the move to Catalonia. It’s a move that seems as if it will hinge on the Blaugrana being able to either close further sales, or bring in a major deal away from the pitch. Currently they also have Dani Olmo, Ansu Fati, Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Pau Victor as options on the left side of attack.

Since the Tuttosport report was issued, Marca have reported that due to their lack of finances, there is no deal in place, and unless something changes, a move for Chiesa is off the table.
