WATCH: Federico Valverde breaks Real Valladolid resolve as Real Madrid finally lead

Real Madrid are going in search of their first La Liga victory of the season, following last weekend’s disappointing draw against Mallorca at Son Moix. Newly-promoted Real Valladolid are the visitors at the Santiago Bernabeu, and despite a strong opening 45 minutes, they have now found themselves behind to the reigning champions.

Carlo Ancelotti was forced to make two changes to his side for this one, with Fran Garcia and Arda Guler coming into the line-up. It was a nervy start for the hosts, with Valladolid more than holding their own – unfortunately for La Pucela, they’ve now been breached by a wonderful strike from Federico Valverde.

Los Blancos needed a moment of quality, and it’s arrived from Valverde. His effort took a slight deflection, but it was more than good enough to beat Arsenal loanee Karl Hein.

Real Madrid will have been desperate to secure their first league win, and now that they’ve taken the lead, they should be able to hold it for the remainder of the match. Ancelotti will fancy his side to score a few more goals before the full time whistle is blown.
