Jude Bellingham claims his ‘body needs rest’ after Real Madrid injury setback

Jude Bellingham has opened up his latest injury setback at Real Madrid.

The England international will miss this weekend’s La Liga clash with Real Valladolid due to a  foot problem (plantar fascitis).

He is expected to be sidelined for a month of action and will miss England’s two UEFA Nations League games in September.

Bellingham will miss at least three club games, either side of September’s international break, in a frustrating start to the campaign.

Despite an incredible first season in Madrid, injuries disrupted him from the start of 2024, with shoulder and ankle problems setting him back.

As part of a growing concern over game load being levied onto elite players, on the back of summer international tournaments, Bellingham has dropped a clear hint over needing a break.

“Nothing I hate more than missing games but trying to see the positives. Maybe my body is telling me it needs to rest a bit more after a busy year”, he posted on social media.

“I’m frustrated, but I’ll be supporting the lads like a fan, until I can rejoin them with my best and strongest form.”

Concerns over too many games, across multiple competitions and international travel is a key concern for Carlo Ancelotti, who confirmed he will give players unofficial mid-season breaks to cope.
