New Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher had a simple message for how he fits in Diego Simeone’s plans.
Gallagher finally completed his delayed transfer to Madrid, in a deal believed to be worth around €42m to former side Chelsea, after weeks of talks.
Despite the deal previously hanging in the balance, with Gallagher flying back to London and training with Chelsea, the England international is now in place.
He delivered a shy response in his first words as an Atletico Madrid player, presented to the home fans at the Estadio Metropolitano, with his Spanish needing some work.
However, hard work is not something Gallagher is afraid of, and his grit and hard running style will be an asset to Simeone in the months ahead.
“Simeone was a big part of me coming to the club, he’s one of the best coaches in the world. I’m very excited. I fit quite well with how he wants to play. I give my all on the pitch”, as per quotes from Mundo Deportivo.
Atletico Madrid host Girona in their first home game of the La Liga campaign on August 25, and Gallagher is registered, but Simeone may use him off the bench after a disrupted preseason.
