Winger willing to take 25% salary cut in order to join Barcelona

Juventus winger Federico Chiesa has been on his way out of the club for some time and it appears Barcelona could be a surprise destination for the Italian international. The 26-year-old is available on a cut-price fee from La Vecchia Signora, as he is out of contract next summer.

Chiesa has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea in England, although with few reports in England backing that up. However Barcelona have opened talks for Chiesa, who could be available for as little as €15m. The Blaugrana have reportedly submitted a first offer of €10m.

There’s little doubt that Barcelona are not flush for space in their salary limit, with Dani Olmo yet to be registered. The good news is that La Reppublica (via Sport) are reporting that Chiesa is willing to reduce his €6m annual salary by 25% to €4.5m in order to help Barcelona register him.

Chiesa appears to be prioritising a move to Barcelona, despite it not being entirely clear if he will get much game time. The aforementioned Olmo is one of the top contenders to play there, while Raphinha can also operate there, with Lamine Yamal likely to start more often than not on the right side. Theoretically, Chiesa does add an option that is more adept at beating his defender though.
