Girona are determining to continue improving Michel Sanchez’s squad before the summer transfer window closes. There are still certain areas that need to be addressed, and one of these is on the wings.
Bryan Gil has already signed on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, but another winger is wanted to help fill the void left by Savinho. Girona’s top target is Yaser Asprilla, and according to MD, they’ve been handed a welcome boost in their pursuit of the Colombian star.
Rennes have joined Leicester City and Porto in ending their interest in Asprilla, which leaves Girona as the sole club still in the race. However, it still would not be easy to agree terms as Watford are demanding in excess of £20m.
It remains to be seen whether Girona can get a deal done. They do have plenty of funds available because of numerous high-profile sales, on top of the money earned from their Champions League qualification. However, club officials are determined to be smart, rather than just splashing the cash.
