Barcelona agree personal terms with Serie A target, intention made to sign for less than €15m

Barcelona are determined to sign a new left winger before the end of the summer transfer window. Nico Williams is no longer an option, and more realistic targets are being worked on – for now, the best-placed to join is Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa is not in the plans of Thiago Motta, and with less than a year remaining on his contract, the 26-year-old will be moved on before the end of the month. He is open to joining Barcelona, with Sport having now reported that he has already agreed to the terms offered by the Catalan giants. He’s prepared to take a salary reduction to make the move, cutting his wages to €4.5m per season.

As per Relevo, Barcelona have established a €15m limit in their impending negotiations with Juventus. They are determined to pay no more than this amount, although it has been reported that the Serie A giants are seeking closer to €20m.

The report states that Barcelona are yet to submit their opening offer, but it is being prepared. Chiesa would be a very good low-cost signing if he can re-discover the form he showed a few years ago – although that is a big if.
