Marcelino implements “non-aggression pact” on back of heated 2022 incident between Villarreal teammates

Arnaut Danjuma’s future as a Villarreal player looks unclear, although he does have more chances to stay than previously thought. After back-to-back failed loan spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, it seemed certain that he’d be leaving La Ceramica once again, but after taking his opportunity against Atletico Madrid on Monday, he could remain.

Marcelino Garcia Toral is open to Danjuma staying, and steps have already been taken for his continuity. Specifically, this includes implementing a “non-aggression pact” between the Dutch forward and Raul Albiol.

As revealed by Relevo, Danjuma and Albiol have a frosty relationship, which dates back to 2022. The pair were involved in a heated exchange after the former laughed in the veteran defender’s face, which caused a complete breakdown in relations.

They aren’t on regular speaking terms, but Marcelino’s stance has ensured that the situation does not affect the entire squad. This is necessary for Villarreal, as a happy squad gives them a better chance of achieving their goals – European qualification – this season. It remains to be seen whether Danjuma will be part of these aspirations.
