Spanish forward would turn down Newcastle United approach

Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for large parts of their squad this summer, as they continue to wage war on their wage bill. The Blaugrana need to sell in order to sign, or in Dani Olmo’s case register, but once again they are running into a familiar problem.

In previous years, Barcelona have been unable to convince some of their players to leave, and that holds true for Ferran Torres. Recent reports in England have stated that Newcastle United are preparing an offer for the Valencian forward, with the Catalan giants willing to consider a sale for €30m. Marca have followed up that report by saying that Torres is unaware of any approach from the Magpies though, and he would not consider a move to Newcastle nor anywhere else this summer.

The 24-year-old has three years remaining on his deal, and has become a secondary figure over the last 18 months. He averaged a goal every two games last season, but Torres is unlikely to earn a starting role this season. It does seem that Barcelona have convinced Ilkay Gundogan to leave however.
