Vitor Roque has not been assigned a squad number by Barcelona for the 2024-25 season. He wore 19 last season, but that has now been given to Lamine Yamal, and the fact that a replacement number has now been set speaks to the club’s intentions for the Brazilian teenager, who only arrived in January.
A departure before the end of the summer is inevitable for Roque. Barcelona have been entertaining a possible sale, which would help with their financial woes, but the player’s insistence to remain in La Liga means that a loan move is more likely.
As per MD, Roque’s representatives are sounding potential destinations. They’ve already spoken to Real Sociedad and Girona – two clubs in need of a striker – as a way to gauge any possible interest.
If Barcelona can return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule without selling Roque, it would be ideal for them in the long run. It’s obviously not been an easy start to life in Catalonia, but it’s undeniable that the 19-year-old has talent, and a move to another La Liga – where he’d be under significantly less pressure – would be fantastic for his development.
