Atletico Madrid “very close” to agreeing deal for Joao Felix, Conor Gallagher signing would be re-activated

Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have been in negotiations for the last couple of weeks, over three separate deals. Only one of those is currently being worked on – the one involving Joao Felix’s possible return to the Premier League giants.

Samu Omorodion and Conor Gallagher were to be involved in a swap-like deal, but the former rejected the move to Chelsea at the 11th hour after terms were changed in their agreement. That operation collapsed, and the one for Gallagher is currently on hold, although it could now be about to proceed.

As per Matteo Moretto, Atleti and Chelsea are “very close” to agreeing terms on a deal for Felix. Positive talks have taken place between the two clubs, and if this can be finalised, Gallagher’s move to Los Colchoneros would be unblocked.

Atletico Madrid have been demanding €60m for Felix all summer. It’s likely that Chelsea will pay just below this amount, but it’d still be a fantastic deal for a player that had no future at the Civitas Metropolitano. Crucially, he’d garner a larger fee that Samu, which could allow the excess funds to go towards a new left-sided central defender.
