Real Betis and Girona have played out the second draw of the day, following an enthralling 90 minutes at the Benito Villamarin in Seville. The two teams could not be separated, playing out a 1-1 draw.
It was a dream start for Betis, as they went in front inside the opening five minutes. Nabil Fekir’s corner was headed home at the near post by Marc Bartra. It was a wonderful moment for the defender, who was playing his first match since recovering from a serious Achilles tendon injury sustained during last season.
Betis had chances to score a second before half time, with the best falling to Aitor Ruibal – who missed a 1-on-1 with Paolo Gazzaniga. They were made to pay, as Girona found an equaliser in the second period.
It was the youngsters that combined for Michel’s side. Iker Almeda did brilliantly to reach the by-line, and his cross was turned home by fellow substitute Gabriel Misehouy, scoring on his debut in the process.
A better draw for Girona than it is for Betis, when considering the match as a whole. Either way, a fantastic watch, and a great match to the 2024-25 La Liga season.
