Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is not having the start to the season he would want, after a dream summer with Spain. On Wednesday night it emerged that his father, Mounir Nasraoui, had been the victim of a stabbing.
Understandably, his 17-year-old son was deeply concerned upon finding out the news, but was calmed after he was able to speak with Nasraoui on the phone. Sport say that Barcelona’s unofficial fixer Alejandro Echevarria was by the family’s side at the hospital to offer anything that was needed.
De Jong's ankle is still not fine. His return date is unknown and he'll not be available to Flick for the first games of the season. @fansjavimiguel

Nasraoui was inducted into hospital in a grave state, but was stabilised. He will remain in hospital for the next few days under observation, and will be moved out of the serious care unit. A good sign was that Lamine Yamal trained as normal on Thursday morning, and was surrounded by the affection and support of the squad as a result. While it is hardly the most important thing, it appears he will remain available for Hansi Flick in Barcelona’s league debut against Valencia on Saturday night.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the stabbing, with the search on for a fourth. It is believed that the motive came from a fight that happened hours earlier in their home town of Mataro, which saw Nasraoui and the assailants separated by the police. The attack then took place in a car park that evening.
