Gavi on target to return for Barcelona before end of 2024

Gavi was massively missed by Barcelona during the second half of last season. The 19-year-old all-action midfielder has been out since last November after suffering a serious knee injury while playing for Spain – he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, while also damaging his meniscus.

The injury can be very damaging for a player so young, but so far, Gavi has been progressing well in his recovery. Earlier in the summer, he started training on the grass for the first time, which was a sight to behold for Barcelona supporters.

As things stand, Gavi is on course to return to action on schedule, which is in November – as per MD. However, he will need to eased back after not playing for over a year.

Hansi Flick will be desperate to have Gavi back, although he will be more than aware about taking things easy for the first few months of his return. Barcelona will be a better team with the youngster in their line-up, that’s for sure.

  1. Long term, Gavi will heal and with proper rehabilitation to build up muscle mass in his legs, to support his knees, he only has arthritis in old age to worry about. Ask me how I know! ha ha
