Barcelona have doubts about agreeing deal with Atletico Madrid

Barcelona are desperate to continue orchestrating departures of several of their unwanted players, as they bid to have as many first teamers as possible registered with La Liga before the start of the season – which, for them, is on Saturday against Valencia.

The one player that club officials will be determined to get rid of is Clement Lenglet, who currently takes up a significant portion of the salary space despite not being in the plans of Hansi Flick. A loan move is being closed in on, with a deal currently being discussed with Atletico Madrid.

Lenglet has given his approval for the operation to take place, but according to MD, Barcelona are doubtful about giving the green light under the current conditions. Their reason for this is because Atleti will be a direct rival during the 2024-25 campaign.

It’s not ideal for Barcelona, but if they are to have Dani Olmo, Inigo Martinez and others registered before the trip to Mestalla on Saturday, they may need to give in to Atletico Madrid. It’s essential to have Lenglet off their books as soon as possible.
