Premier League side eyeing Conor Gallagher as Chelsea-Atletico Madrid drama stretches on

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has returned to training in London, as his future remains in limbo. The 24-year-old had reportedly penned his deal with Atletico Madrid, and even started training with Los Rojiblancos, but the collapse of Samu Omorodion’s move to Chelsea has put his deal in doubt.

The two clubs are currently negotiating for Joao Felix, and the exit of the Portuguese to Stamford Bridge could salvage Gallagher’s €40m move to Madrid. However as the talks continue, doubt continues to grow over Gallagher’s fate.

Chelsea were keen to sell Gallagher, who has just a year left on his deal, and were keen to do a deal with Atletico, as their other suitors were Premier League rivals in Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. Now Caught Offside report that Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on the situation, having held a long-term interest in the England international.

Gallagher still seems set on a move to the Metropolitano, and with Atletico having tried to move Felix on permanently for the last two summers, the deals would make sense for all involved, if Chelsea are keen on the Portuguese. However the breakdown in the Omorodion deal has strained relations between the two clubs.
