Liverpool make formal €35m offer for Valencia star

Liverpool are yet to make their first signing of the summer, but they are moving with purpose to make Giorgi Mamardashvili just that. The 23-year-old has been tipped to leave Valencia all summer, although he has turned down an approach from Saudi Arabia in hope of a move to one of Europe’s giants.

Mamardashvili is keen on a move to Liverpool, although their plan is for him to be loaned out to another Premier League side for one to two years, with Allison Becker their number one still. Relevo say Liverpool will pay the Georgian giant €4m per year in net salary.

The Reds have submitted a €35m offer for Mamardashvili, which he is hoping they will accept. Owner Peter Lim will be the one to make the call on the bid, and he has been keen to bring in at least €35-40m for his star goalkeeper since the start of the transfer window. Fabrizio Romano has also said that the deal is ‘on’, indicating it seems likely to go ahead.

A brilliant shot-stopper, Mamardashvili led La Liga for goals conceded against expected goals conceded, with a figure approaching almost 10. His saves have been a fundamental part of Valencia’s survival two seasons ago, and their tough defence (until the final few weeks of the season) last year. His heroics for Georgia at Euro 2024 were typical of his form at Mestalla.
