Italian giants enquire about Barcelona centre-back

Barcelona are looking to shorten their squad in the coming weeks before the end of the transfer window, in no small part due to their salary limit struggles. Two of the names tipped to leave are Clement Lenglet and Mikayil Faye, with the Blaugrana currently housing eight central defenders.

Faye has been linked with Porto, who offered €6m plus a sell-on fee, while Rennes have made an offer reaching €10-12m plus a 20-25% sell-on fee. Barcelona have been holding out for at least €15m plus either a sell-on fee, or a buyback clause though. Real Betis and Real Sociedad both made approaches over a simple loan deal, but currently Barcelona are not considering loan offers.

Inter are the latest side to show interest in Faye, Sport saying that the Nerazzurrri have enquired about the 20-year-old. They would be willing to reach the €15m asking price, but that would be including variables, and on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

They could reach Barcelona’s demands, but only if they are able to pay in 2025, which does not aid Barcelona’s immediate salary limit concerns. It seems all but certain that Faye will leave Barcelona, after receiving little game time in their preseason tour to the USA. He has had the misfortune of playing in one of two positions where Barcelona have significant depth.
