Chelsea take step closer to re-signing Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid – report

Joao Felix is edging ever closer to leaving Atletico Madrid for the second successive summer – but this, he would be departing on a permanent basis. Chelsea are in talks to re-sign the player they had on loan for six months during the 2022-23 season.

Chelsea pushed for Felix after the collapse of their deal to sign Samu Omorodion, who could now remain at Atleti this summer. The 24-year-old is open to returning to the Premier League giants, and Los Colchoneros would certainly welcome a sale as Felix would likely have no place in Diego Simeone’s plans – despite a strong pre-season.

Ruben Uria has now reported that Chelsea have moved closer to agreeing a deal to sign Felix. It’s stated that they are prepared to accept the demands set out by Atleti, which could ensure that an agreement is reached by the end of this week.

Atletico Madrid will be desperate to close Felix’s sale as soon as possible, as it would allow them to re-activate the signing of Conor Gallagher – the Chelsea midfielder, who has returned to London in recent days, has been stuck in limbo since the Samu deal collapsed.
