Atletico Madrid stalwart to consider summer exit following Julian Alvarez signing

Earlier this week, Atletico Madrid confirmed the arrival of Julian Alvarez from Manchester City. The signing has been met by masses of euphoria, and the club’s Argentine contingent played their part in convincing the 24-year-old to make the move to the Civitas Metropolitano. Angel Correa is included in this, although his future could now be affected.

Diario AS say that Correa is now considering a move away from Atleti before the summer transfer closes at the end of this month. His playing time will be reduced because of Alvarez’s arrival, and he’s also behind the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Alexander Sorloth in the pecking order.

Correa has been with Atleti for almost 10 years. He joined from San Lorenzo in January 2015, but his time at the club could now be coming to its end.

Atletico Madrid would likely welcome a sale as they look to bankroll deals for Conor Gallagher and a left-sided defender. Correa has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia in the past, and most recently, Besiktas have been pursuing him. Because of this, it’s entirely possible that a departure happens in the coming weeks.
