Girona defender ends speculation on future by signing new three-year contract

Girona have already lost several important players this summer, including the likes of Aleix Garcia, Artem Dovbyk and Savio. They’ll be hesitant to lose anyone else ahead of their debut season as a Champions League club, which is why they will be delighted to have tied down Arnau Martinez to a new contract.

Arnau, 21, had a very promising 2022-23 campaign, but due to the strong performances of Yan Couto last season, he struggled for playing time. However, he’s now on course to be Girona’s starting right-back for 2024-25, and ahead of Thursday’s La Liga opener against Real Betis, he’s signed a new three-year contract.

It was crucial for Girona to secure Arnau’s future. His previous deal only ran until next summer, and in recent weeks, he has attracted interest from several clubs. That can now be put to rest ahead of the new season kicking off for the Catalans at the Benito Villamarin in 48 hours’ time.
