Everton have €28m bid for Barcelona forward rejected

Barcelona are trying to offload 19-year-old Brazilian forward Vitor Roque this summer, with some debate over whether they would rather a loan move or a straight sale. Roque signed for €30m plus €31m in variables in January, but both Xavi Hernandez and Hansi Flick have decided he does not make the grade for them.

After early links to Porto and Lazio, the Premier League now looks a more likely destination. Bournemouth are interested in Roque, but it is Everton who have made the first move, as per Florian Plettenberg. He reports that Barcelona have turned down a €25m bid with €3m in variables, as they seek €30-35m for the teenager.

That is backed up by MD, who say that Barcelona want at least €30m in a fixed fee, a figure which is non-negotiable. Roque’s agent, Andre Cury, is more in favour of a permanent sale, and Roque understands that whether it be on loan or permanently, he will need to play.

It looks tricky for Barcelona to be able to negotiate a deal in which they make a profit on Roque, or even get their money back. Any other side can point to the fact his stock has fallen dramatically, Barcleona are in need of sales in order to ease their salary limit situation, and they no longer believe Roque is even sufficient standard to back up Robert Lewandowski.
