Concern for Real Madrid as key player injured during training ahead of UEFA Super Cup final

Real Madrid are aiming to secure silverware in their first match of the 2024-25 season when they take on Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final. Carlo Ancelotti has multiple selection dilemmas ahead of the match, although one of those could have been solved for him – but not in the way he wanted.

As per Diario AS, Eduardo Camavinga was forced to leave training after being on the end of a strong challenge. The French midfielder, who was holding his knee, was seen in real discomfort as he headed for the medical room.

The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana has reported that initial tests conducted by Real Madrid have ruled out a serious injury. However, it’s yet to be known whether Camavinga is able to face Atalanta on Wednesday.

Real Madrid will be thankful that Camavinga appears to be relatively okay. Their squad is already relatively thin because of the lack of signings, and the last thing that Ancelotti needed was a serious injury before the season has started – especially as it’d have been for the second year in a row (Thibaut Courtois in 2023).
