Barcelona winger target wants to join Paris Saint-Germain

Barcelona have now accepted that Nico Williams will not be leaving Athletic Club this summer, and they have moved on to other left winger targets. Three are being looked at currently: Kingsley Coman, Luis Diaz and Rafael Leao.

Leao would be almost impossible due to the finances at play, while Liverpool’s insistence to keep Diaz also makes that deal very unlikely. Coman is undoubtedly the best bet from a financial standpoint, as Bayern Munich are willing to accept loan deal (with an option/obligation to buy).

However, it will not be straightforward for Barcelona to re-unite Coman with Hansi Flick, whom he managed at Bayern. According to Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau, the 28-year-old would like to re-join Paris Saint-Germain, the club he started his professional career with. Talks between club and player have been described as “good”.

The good news for Barcelona in this situation is that PSG may not go for Coman, as club bosses are not convinced that they need another attacker because of the impending signing of Desire Doue.

For now, Barcelona are yet to advance their interest in Coman beyond speaking to his representatives. That could change in the days/weeks leading up to the closing of the summer transfer window.
