Barcelona moved for staff newcomer ahead of Italian and Saudi offers

Barcelona look set to formalise the signing of Roberto Mancini’s son, Andrea Mancini, to become one of their recruitment team this week. The Blaugrana have dealt with him in the past.

As explained to Football España by Matteo Moretto, the Blaugrana must have seen or heard something in Mancini that they felt could improve their technical staff, as they moved for him earlier in the summer.

Mancini had an offer to go out to Saudi Arabia, where his father is managing the national team, and Sampdoria tried to retain him as their sporting director, but Barcelona had already offered him a deal when his contract expired in June.

Barcelona sold Estanis Pedrola to Sampdoria last summer, while he has been praised for signing 17-year-old defender Giovanni Leone ahead of the likes of AS Monaco and Tottenham Hotspur. Mancini is set to become part of Deco’s staff, although it is not yet clear what exact role he will have.
