19-year-old defender to remain in Real Madrid first team for foreseeable future

It’s no secret that Real Madrid are short of options in central defence, and this was amplified further by the recent ACL injury suffered by 16-year-old prospect, Joan Martinez. He joins David Alaba on the sidelines, who’s also recovering from a torn cruciate – which he sustained last December.

Martinez had been expected to be part of Real Madrid’s first team squad for the foreseeable future until his injury, but that honour has now been bestowed on to Jacobo Ramon. Diario AS say that the 19-year-old will be under Carlo Ancelotti’s order until Alaba returns to action, which may not happen until 2025.

Ramon was playing for Real Madrid’s U19 side last season, under the orders of Alvaro Arbeloa. He’ll now be teammates with Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and co. for the next few months – and that starts with the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday, for which he has been included in the matchday squad.
