Chelsea open to sensational Joao Felix move as Atletico Madrid need transfer funds

Joao Felix is back on Chelsea’s radar as part of a sensational transfer twist at Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese international has returned to preseason action in Madrid in recent weeks after a loan spell at Barcelona.

Felix openly stated his desire to head back to Barcelona, but La Blaugrana rejected a permanent deal, and Atletico Madrid opted against a loan renewal.

Premier League rivals Aston Villa are the current favourites to bring him to England with the Villans preparing a final transfer offer.

However, as per reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a number of moving pieces have now impacted multiple deals.

Samu Omorodion’s proposed move to Chelsea has reportedly collapsed with the incoming €40m fee split between transfer fees for Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez.

Deals for Gallagher and Alvarez are expected to cost Atletico Madrid in excess of €130m combined and a restructuring is now needed.

Felix could now be included in the Gallagher move, to reduce the overall fee, or potentially mould into a player swap, with money held back for Alvarez.
