Barcelona cannot register Dani Olmo five days from La Liga debut

Barcelona finally managed to get their first major bit of business over the line last Friday, confirming the €55m plus €7m in variables deal for Dani Olmo arriving from RB Leipzig. He is set to feature in the Joan Gamper trophy on Monday night against AS Monaco, but when his official debut comes, nobody can be sure of.

According to Cadena SER, Barcelona are still unable to register Olmo. Despite a €40m deal with catering and logistics firm Aramark paling the impact of non-payments for the sale of Barca Vision, the Blaugrana remain €60m behind on what they need to accomplish their budget. Nike and Spotify have been cited as potential allies in taking over the remaining Barca Vision payments in exchange for the stake, but as of yet, no deal has been announced.

Barcelona continue to brief that they can sign Nico Williams, and are intending to do so, but with no sign of major sales on the horizon, and little certainty over the registrations of not just Olmo, but also Vitor Roque, Inigo Martinez, Clement Lenglet, Eric Garcia and others, it would be understandable if the Basque winner had his doubts. With their first La Liga tie approaching on Saturday evening at Mestalla against Valencia, the clock is ticking for Sporting Director Deco and President Joan Laporta.
