Atletico Madrid will demand higher price from Chelsea for Joao Felix deal if Samu Omorodion is scrapped

It appeared for all the world that Samu Omorodion would be joining Chelsea this week, but last-minute disagreements over the deal have swung his move from Atletico Madrid into jeopardy. Joao Felix has emerged as a potential alternative.

According to Matteo Moretto on Relevo, Chelsea and Atletico are discussing to see if a deal for Omorodion can be salvaged, and perhaps even renegotiated. If, as looks likely at the moment, the deal does collapse, then Joao Felix will be the option.

If that is the case though, then there will be more negotiations ahead. Atletico believe that Felix’s value is higher than that of Omorodion, and thus will demand more money from Chelsea if the deal ends up being for the Portuguese. Moretto explains that neither side want the €40m deal for Conor Gallagher to break down either, with everything agreed for the England midfielder, and the 24-year-old already training with his new teammates.

Atletico’s move for Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez seems to be going ahead regardless of the deals between Chelsea and Atletico. The interest in a deal for Felix has come as a surprise to many, following a largely disappointing six months at Stamford Bridge two seasons ago, and an underwhelming campaign for Barcelona last year too. Atletico reportedly want €50m for Felix, just €5m more than Chelsea were to pay for Omorodion.
