AS Monaco hoping to return from Barcelona friendly with one of their players

Barcelona are gioing to have to make some tough choices this summer, with sales necessary in order to balance the books. It looks as if Senegal international Mikayil Faye will be one of the victims of their financial situation.

The 20-year-old is up for sale this summer, although Barcelona will seek to keep him within reach, either with a buyback clause, or a high percentage sell-on fee, making it cheaper for the Catalans to pull off a deal.

On Saturday it was revealed that Stade Rennes had made an offer of €10-11m for Faye with a 25% buyback clause. It was said that there are several more clubs interested, and Sport now report that AS Monaco are one of them. They say that the side from the principality will take advantage of their friendly with Barcelona on Monday night in the Joan Gamper Trophy to discuss details of a transfer for Faye. They are keen to know what Barcelona’s demands are for Faye.

On Friday Eric Garcia confirmed that he would be remaining at Barcelona this summer, while Pau Cubarsi is also due to return from the Olympics. Clement Lenglet will likely move on, but with Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde and Inigo Martinez, the Blaugrana already have six central defenders in their plans before considering Faye. Hence his sale becomes a rather logical consequence of their resources.
