Aberdeen smash sale record as striker heads to Spain

Aberdeen are set to break their sale record with the exit of striker Bojan Miovski, who is heading to Girona to play in the Champions League. The 25-year-old North Macedonian striker bid a tearful farwell to Pittodrie on Sunday, as the Dons beat St. Mirren 3-1.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Miovski will set Girona back in excess of €8m, as they beat the likes of Genoa and Espanyol to his signature. Aberdeen’s previous record sale was €3.9m for Calvin Ramsay’s move to Liverpool.

Miovski joins Girona’s rebuild after 44 goals in 97 appearances in Scotland. The Catalan side are going into their first ever European campaign in the Champions League, but have lost much of the spine of their side, with top scorer Artem Dovbyk moving on this summer in a move to AS Roma. He will join Abel Ruiz, who arrived for a similar fee from Braga, and Cristhian Stuani in striking department for Michel Sanchez, who clearly is a fan of a traditional number nine who can battle with defenders.
