Liverpool ready to activate Martin Zubimendi release clause despite player doubts

Real Sociedad are preparing for a battle to retain Martin Zubimendi for the 2024/25 season.

La Real are fighting to keep hold of two of their key players with Premier League giants Liverpool already launching an ambitious move to bring Zubimendi to Anfield.

The latest update from transfer expert  Matteo Moretto claims Zubimendi is openly considering a move away from San Sebastian for the first time in his career.

He is rumoured to be ‘very attracted’ by Liverpool’s offer, and it is only him resolving his final doubts about leaving his boyhood club, that stands between a move now.

Liverpool are expected to play their next card in the coming days with Mundo Deportivo indicating they will formally activate his €60m release clause next week.

Real Sociedad have resigned themselves to losing at least one of Zubimendi and Mikel Merino, with the latter close to joining Arsenal, but if that move is completed first, they could tighten ranks to keep the former.
