Liverpool have green light to go after €30m deal for 23-year-old La Liga star

As if he hadn’t already been performing week in, week out, for Valencia, Giorgi Mamardashvili further increased the interest in his services this summer with an excellent showing for Georgia at Euro 2024. The Premier League looks most likely to be his destination.

Newcastle United were one of the sides most closely linked with Mamardashvili, but could not agree a move. Saudi Arabia had also expressed an interest in him, but the 23-year-old goalkeeper decided that he was only keen on a move to a big club.

It might not have to be now though. Recently it has been suggested that Liverpool could sign Mamardashvili and then loan him out, as an eventual Alisson Becker replacement, an offer made to them by Los Che. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Mamardashvili is attracted by the opportunity, and would be open to that formula. His information is now that Liverpool know they can complete a deal for around €30m for Mamardashvili and it is merely up to them to decide whether to go ahead with the deal.

At the age of 31, Liverpool would be hoping that they have several years of production out of  Alisson yet. The Brazil international also has three years left on his deal, meaning they are not likely to lose him soon. On a purely financial basis, it would make sense to sell Alisson next summer, depending on what kind of fee they feel they can get for him, and then have Mamardashvili in situ as a replacement. All the same, it would be understandable if they wanted to stick with the Brazilian.
