Collision with Endrick Felipe led to torn ACL for Real Madrid starlet

Earlier this week, it was reported that Joan Martinez has torn his anterior cruciate ligament. The 16-year-old defender was expected to be part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the 2024-25 season, but he will now almost certainly miss the entire campaign.

According to Marca, it was an innocuous collision between Martinez and Endrick Felipe that led to the former’s unfortunate injury. The incident is said to have happened just minutes after the end of Real Madrid’s training session of Friday.

It’s been a tough start to life at Real Madrid for Endrick, as he failed to impress during the pre-season matches in the United States. This incident won’t have helped, although he can surely take little blame for it.

It’s not been the easiest of summers for Real Madrid. Missing out on Leny Yoro was a blow, and his possible “replacement” now suffering an ACL tear is very cruel. Club officials will hope that the 2024-25 season itself is much better.
