Barcelona prepared to overrule Hansi Flick by orchestrating forward’s departure

Barcelona must continue finalising departures if they are to ease their financial problems over the coming weeks, which would also them to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule. Julian Araujo is going, and he won’t be the only one.

One player whose future is up in the air is Ansu Fati. Despite impressing Hansi Flick during pre-season, which has led to the Barcelona manager counting on the young attacker, the club’s sporting department want to orchestrate a departure – ideally on a permanent basis, although a loan is deemed as acceptable. The latter option would be good for Sevilla, one of the clubs keen on signing him.

As per Sport, Barcelona officials want Fati’s wages off the books – he’s a high earner, and given that he’s unlikely to be a regular starter following Dani Olmo’s arrival, there is a desire to move him on. His injury record works against him, as does the emergence of Pau Victor during pre-season.

Barcelona would be overruling Flick if they organise Fati’s departure. There’s no doubt that he can be a valuable squad player if he recovers his previous form, although it’s understandable to doubt whether that will happen.
