Free transfer is Aymeric Laporte’s only Real Madrid option

Real Madrid will not pay a transfer fee to complete a deal for Aymeric Laporte.

The Spanish international has been heavily linked move away from Saudi Arabia despite being contracted at current side Al Nassr until 2026.

Laporte’s impressive showing in Spain’s run to Euro 2024 glory offered a reminder of his ability to compete at the highest level.

Los Blancos took note of his performances in Germany and highlighted him as a defensive option due to injuries and a lack of cover in that area.

However, with the Spanish champions looking to keep costs down this summer, they want Laporte to secure a free transfer release from Riyadh.

As per the latest from Diario AS, Laporte has been informed he must reach an agreement to terminate his contract at Al Nassr, before Real Madrid will make a move.

He remains an open option for Real Madrid but Al Nassr’s €20m valuation will not be met for a squad player.
