Real Madrid eyeing up Chelsea youngster, move would solve long-term positional problem

One area that Real Madrid will need to address in the next couple of years is right-back. Their current options, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, are 32 and 33 respectively, so their time in the spotlight will be coming to an end soon – currently, there is no obvious successor for either player.

Over the last 12-18 months, Real Madrid have been linked with numerous right-backs, the latest being Trent Alexander-Arnold. They are hoping to sign him as a free agent when his contract expires next summer, although Liverpool are already looking to offer the 25-year-old a new deal in the coming weeks.

It appears that Real Madrid are looking at younger and less established players toom with the Independent reporting that they are interested in Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong, alongside Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea rate Acheampong very highly, and internally, he’d seen as a player that is not for sale. However, that hasn’t stopped Real Madrid in the past, and if they make a serious attempt to sign the teenager, they could get their hands on him.
