Martin Zubimendi poised to give green light for €60m Liverpool move

Over the last two years, Martin Zubimendi has regularly rejected approaches from clubs trying to sign him. Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are among those to be rejected, but if rumours are to be believed, he is now set to give the green light for a move away from Real Sociedad, his boyhood club.

Liverpool are pushing hard to sign Zubimendi. La Real are reportedly pessimistic about their chances of keeping him this summer, and it’s now been reported by Relevo that the 25-year-old midfielder is ready to agree personal terms with the Premier League giants.

Liverpool would need to pay Zubimendi’s €60m release clause in order to make a deal happen, as La Real have little intention of negotiating with any interested clubs. Once that happens, the Euro 2024 winner will reportedly give the go-ahead of a move to take place.

Losing Zubimendi would be a bitter blow for Real Sociedad, especially as Mikel Merino is also set to leave for Arsenal. They’ll have plenty of money to find a replacement, but doing so is much easier said than done.
