Barcelona to secure €40m unpaid economic lever from sponsor – report

Barcelona have been sweating over their finances for the past year since Libero did not pay up for the €40m stake in digital content subsidiary Barca Vision, but the latest reporting is that Barcelona have persuaded one of their current sponsors to pick up the bill.

Libero were the fourth company to get involved with Barca Vision, after NIPA, Socios and Orpheus Media contributed €40m, but another €40m was due last summer, and was not paid. It has left a large hole in Barcelona’s salary limit calculations, putting them in excess, and restricting what they can spend on players.

As per Cadena SER, and carried by Sport, Aramark will pay the €40m due from last summer. They are a services and logistics business that are currently contracted to Barcelona for their catering once they return to Camp Nou.

There remains €60m that was due this summer from the same sale of Barca Vision, and Barcelona are hoping to bring that in from their other sponsors Spotify and Nike. It remains to be seen if that will get over the line, but if they could pull off those deals, it may return the Blaugrana to within their salary limit parameters. That could well be important, with Dani Olmo arriving in the Catalan capital to complete a move on Tuesday night.
